A first-year project, Green Cable, was an outcome from a project on electricity. My first encounter with typography, I learned technical elements such as kerning, serif and sans serif. Typography is visually a powerful tool, it can communicate a voice or personality instantly.
On a walk home I noticed the man-made erected electrical pylons and cables connecting one house to another. Wires intertwined with tree branches, or foliage completely engulfing the electrical poles. I admired the harmony of man-made and nature. I documented different electrical poles with photographs. I read previously that Benjamin Franklin was very appreciative of Baskerville’s typeface and thought it was fitting to use it as a foundation. I digitally manipulated photographs into a collage for a decorative typeface.
